Who's Sorry Now-SUMMIT REUNION
Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 11:02AM We return to The Mid-America Jazz Festival in St Louis, Mo. from 1992 for one of my most favorite swinging jazz groups.
Summit Reunion was formerly known as The Soprano Summit when both the Late Kenny Davern & Bob Wilber played soprano saxophones as well as other instruments but when the group broke up Kenny returned to the clarinet almost exclusively. At this festival Kenny did play his straight soprano as he does on this number but shortly afterwards he gave it up for good. So you have a most rare view here of this great musician playing his soprano saxophone. Bob plays his curved soprano saxophone. He was a student of Sidney Bechet.
Bob Wilber will be honored by The University of Hampshire on September 20th and will appear with us at the Arbors Invitational Party in late January.
I happy to share these rare videos with you here & on the next I Love Jazz television show starting soon on HECTV.ORG
